From Wedding to Family: A Return to Indian Riverside Park with Nassimbeni Photo & Films

It’s always an honor to photograph a family, but when it’s one of my past wedding couples, it hits differently. This session at Indian Riverside Park in Stuart, Florida, was extra special, not just because of the sweet little girls in matching floral dresses or the changing light throughout the shoot, but because this family has a meaningful history at this very location.

They were married in January 2020 at Tuckahoe Mansion, just before the world shut down. And now, a few years (and two daughters!) later, we met again on the park side of Indian Riverside Park, the same property where they said “I do.” It was the perfect blend of nostalgia, chaos (hello, toddlers!), and beauty.

A Family Session Full of Meaning at Indian Riverside Park

Sthefanie wore a classic denim dress that was both comfortable and timeless, while her daughters wore matching floral blue dresses that moved beautifully in the breeze. Josh kept things relaxed in jeans and a textured white knit shirt, giving the whole family a coordinated, casual, and neutral look that worked perfectly against the greenery and waterfront of the park.

The toddler was exactly who she needed to be, curious, busy, full of life, and clutching her little basket purse full of candies (bribery is survival, let’s be honest). She wanted to climb, explore, and roam free, and that freedom gave us some of the most natural, personality-filled moments. Her baby sister, not yet one year old, added the perfect sweetness to the mix with those soft cheeks and snuggles.

Why I Don’t Usually Do Family Photos (and Why I’m So Glad I Did)

Over the years, I’ve done family sessions on and off, but mostly off. My main work focuses on weddings and engagements, and I’ve poured myself into that world. But something shifts when a past wedding couple reaches back out for maternity photos or family portraits. It’s like getting a glimpse into the chapters that followed. The trust that was built during their wedding carries into a new stage of life, and I don’t take that lightly.

Sthefanie told me she wasn’t expecting a lot from this session. Toddlers are unpredictable, and anyone who’s wrangled one for photos knows how wild it can feel. But by the end, she couldn’t even pick a favorite photo, there were too many.

Making Family Sessions Work at Indian Riverside Park

Indian Riverside Park is such a gem for family photography. It’s not just about the pretty palm trees or waterfront views, it’s about versatility. The park side (where we shot) gives space for toddlers to explore while still offering beautiful backdrops. The wide lawn, paved paths, and shade trees make it a family friendly spot where light shifts beautifully as the sun moves.

If you’re considering Indian Riverside Park for family photos, I highly recommend it, especially during bright days when the light hugs everything just right.
